Should I put winter tires on my car?

As a general rule, winter tires become necessary when the average daily temperature drops to below 7 °C for 10 consecutive days. And, although only legally mandatory in Quebec, it’s a smart idea to put them on your vehicle. Even if you have all-season tires, they are not the same as winter tires.

  • The rubber on winter tires are designed with deeper treads, giving you much needed grip on unpredictably icy roads
  • Winter tires also give you more maneuverability in snow
  • Winter tires that are marked with the snowflake on the sidewall will provide the best possible protection during the winter driving season.

If you have any specific questions about how winter tires might impact your insurance premium, your Service Specialist will be happy to answer them.
