When I have a home insurance claim, is the item that caused the loss to happen covered?
Unfortunately, it is not. You are responsible for repairing the item that caused the loss to occur; a burst pipe, hot water tank, furnace, appliances etc.
If your policy covers the resulting damage, you would be compensated for this in your claim. An adjuster and contractor will confirm the cause of the loss and determine if you are covered.
